:jawdrop: Oh...my... :omg:...just the monster and foreground!!
Although, I think the sky is a little odd with the rest of the piece... :O and I think the head-"neck" area could use a little more contrast...
Are these Hellions illustrations for magic cards????

yes they are for magic: the gathering, glad you like it :)
it's bit blurry to simulate movement and not as contrasty because you are not up close and atmosphere perspective , and the sky is kinda simplistic but I guess I wanted to make sure that the focus in on the subject and action ( it does need a gradient though). and if you squint your eyes you will see that there is the a good amount of contrast between the hole of the mouth (dark value) , the mouth where the teeth and fingers (lighter value) and the neck (darker value), dark / light / dark . This helps the overlapping of shapes. I hope what I wrote makes sense :)

It makes perfect sense actually. :) Yeah I noticed the contrast in the mouth, the mouth is awesome. I get what you're saying, I think I'm just more drawn to pieces with high contrast. lol =P
